The Navaratri Guide

“Beautify your inner dialogue. Beautify your inner world with love, light and compassion. Life will be beautiful.”

Amit Ray

Navaratri honors Shakti or Devi and focuses on practices of meditation, fasting & prayer for spiritual cleansing, guidance, and enlightenment. You may not be religious but you can use this time to eliminate the bad & develop the good within yourself.

The festival is divided into 3 sets of 3 nights, each focussing on a different Avatar of Devi. These 3 parts of Navaratri can be used as a guide to development and self-actualisation.

The first set of nights are to meditate on the Devi in her powerful and destructive avatar as Durga or Kali. Spend this time in identifying those aspects of self that are not helpful, skillful, or productive, such as greed, envy, procrastination, laziness, lying, gossiping & practice letting them go

The second set of nights are to meditate on the Devi in her wealth-giving avatar as Lakshmi. Spend this time in developing and maintaining helpful qualities, such as patience, forgiveness, compassion, loving-kindness, and integrity.

The third set of nights are to meditate on the Devi in her spiritual wisdom-bestowing avatar as Sarasvati. Focus on self-realisation and the teachings you wish to better understand.

Spend the tenth day offering gratitude to the divine & celebrate in a state of sat-chit-ananda or truth-consciousness-bliss.

And don't forget to always #BeTheBestYou
