I was certain of one thing. On our wedding, I wanted to be my at my best all day. And that meant that I wanted to look great but also feel comfortable. My look had to be glamorous, but it also had to be a true reflection of who I am. My clothes, jewellery and makeup were meant to make me shine, not outshine me. Our small wedding was planned and executed during the pandemic, with limited guests but it was extra-large on love and laughter.
I didn’t let the lockdowns limit me. I did extensive research & sourced the best of the best from all over the country. The jewellery, the clothes, the accessories, the wedding favours… I pulled out all the stops, but stuck to my budget.
The biggest surprise to everyone is when I tell them I did my own makeup. Yes I did, because I knew the exact look I wanted to create, because I teach makeup to others & because I have 100 percent faith in my skills. I chose my trusted hairstylists & planned out the hairstyles with them.
My makeup was meant to make me look beautiful, not unrecognisable. My skin was dewy, the eyes were highlighted with soft smokey browns, the lips were a velvety nude & I was glowing with happiness. I don’t think the pictures need any filters.
My personal style is romantic, classic. So I chose traditional silhouettes with a modern color palette. I’m a perfectionist & for me the devil is in the details. To me minimalism is everything. Nothing in excess but everything just right… and on my wedding day, every little element came together and created perfection.
I also planned & sourced every piece of Sid’s (my love) outfit, got his fittings done, helped his sister with her shopping, did my mom’s makeup & helped plan the hairstyles for the whole wedding party. I designed every detail of the wedding venue theme & the food menu as well… But that’s a story for another day :)
