How to survive WFH

Just because now you’re working from home doesn’t mean you open up your laptop in bed in your pyjamas.. it doesn’t, shouldn’t, won’t work like that

The only thing you should eliminate is face-to-face human interaction and (thankfully) your commute to work.

So, this is what your day should look like:

1. Wake up (maybe a little later than usual- no commute, remember?!)

2. Make your bed

3. Spend some quality alone time in the loo

4. Spend some quality time with your family- spouse, kids, parents, siblings, pets

5. Squeeze in a quick morning home workout (no commute, remember? ... you’ve got the time)

6. Get ready for work- yes, I mean get dressed in your work clothes

Why? you ask?

Well, because our clothes have a huge impact on our behaviour. Yes, our appearance creates an image in the minds of others but first it creates an image in our mind. Let me ask you- work you vs pyjamas you... who do you think is more productive?

Our appearance affects the way we think, feel and act. To be in the correct frame of mind, you need to be in your work clothes.

Still don’t believe me? Try working for half a day in your jammies and then work the other half in work clothes...you will feel the difference… trust me it matters!

7. Eat a healthy breakfast

8. Get to work (thank God no commute)

9. Here's one more thing-

Assign a work space, and no, it shouldn’t be “in bed”. Find a corner of the house with a comfortable desk and chair and tell family that when you’re sitting in that chair, you’re at work. It keeps you going and makes sure that no one disrupts your work hours

Now comes the fun part

10. Take your coffee break with your spouse- have a laugh, share some interesting news, it’s 15 minutes of quality time, don’t waste it on your phone.

11. Have lunch.. with your family- you can’t really enjoy this luxury in other times. Make the most of it. Don’t spend it with a screen

12. Take another break in the evening and help out your parents or your kids or take your dog for a walk.

These are the true perks of work from home

The best part is yet to come...

In the evening, after a long day at work, guess what- no commute!

13. Get out of your office zone, leave work behind, change into your home clothes

14. This is Bonus time, you will not have this again

  • To spend with loved ones.

  • Or some time to pursue that hobby you never had time for

  • To pick up a book

  • Or do some gardening

  • To mend, repair, clean or fix something that you’ve been putting off

  • Go for a run (don’t forget to keep the distance)

  • Learn something new by enrolling in a course online

  • Spend some time surfing the net and reading

  • To Listen to some music

  • Or simply Watch the sun set & Relax...

15. And before you go to bed, thank the universe for giving you this opportunity to revisit the small joys in life. Be grateful for your health and the health of those you love. Be grateful for life!
